Sancho told to sit tight and develop at Dortmund

JADON Sancho has been told to snub a move to United this summer and stay with Borussia Dortmund instead.

United are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old in the next transfer window, but Dortmund captain Marco Reus believes Sancho’s development will be best served by remaining with the club for now.

Sancho’s blistering form for Dortmund this season, scoring 14 goals and adding 15 assists in the Bundesliga, has led to an expectation that he will move on in the summer.

United are one of the few clubs who could afford a fee likely to be in excess of £100m for the England international and he fits the profile of signing that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has prioritised so far.

But Reus believes Sancho should show patience and wait for the right time to move.

“Jadon is an outstanding player and will definitely remain in demand by many clubs. That is a fact,” he told Sport Bild.

“He’s now playing at an even higher level than last year and would be extremely valuable in achieving our goals. I would advise him to stay at BVB for another year, maybe two. From my point of view, there is no better place for him at the moment.

“Afterwards, he can take the really big step as an even more complete player, having developed further in peace here as a regular starter.”

“He would have to find his place at a new club, which isn’t always easy for a 20-year-old,” the Dortmund captain said. “Just how interesting do you think Jadon will be for the biggest clubs if he spends one, two or three years more here to develop?”
