CHRIS Wilder has laughed off the suggestion United are worried about giving his Sheffield United side an advantage by possibly extending Dean Henderson’s loan move.

Henderson has shone while on loan at Bramall Lane this season but is due to see his deal expire on June 30 in accordance with the original schedule for the Premier League season.

However, matters have been complicated by the postponement of English football which could see the Premier League resume beyond the end of his loan agreement.

M.E.N. Sport understands United would need to give permission for Henderson’s loan to be extended if the current campaign continues, and some fans have even speculated they should block a move in order to weaken Sheffield United’s own bid for Champions League qualification.

Speaking on the Keys and Gray Show manager Wilder laughed off the suggestion his side are even in competition with United at the moment, and remained coy on the transfer complication.

Richard Keys asked: “The legalities of the loan of the keeper, you and Man United are nip and tuck for a Champions League place, are you going to be able to hang on to him?”

“Have you just said something there about a Champions League place? We’ve only just got enough points to stay in the Premier League,” Wilder laughed.

“Sheffield United competing with Man United for a Champions League place, Rich are you sure? We’re not a threat to them.”

To which Keys then asked: “But it’s happening, do you think United would recall their keeper or is it morally correct to leave him with you now?”

Dean Henderson

“I personally think it will be morally correct to leave him playing with Sheffield United for the last 10 games of the season,” joked the Blades boss.

“Because of the legalities and the situation regarding the expiry of the loan, they might take that decision, but we are not a threat to Man U.

“They will be quite happy with the players that they have got that will see them through the season?”

“But you are a threat,” Keys insisted before Wilder calm responded: “A Ford Fiesta isn’t going to get past a Ferrari, Rich.”
