WELCOME TO A BRAVE NEW WORLD

- By JONATHAN YATES

ASHOW based on the novel Brave New World is heading to Sky and NowTV in 2020. The story imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself.

The novel by Aldous Huxley was released in 1932 and is considered to be a groundbreaking text and is often compared to Nineteen Eighty-Four.

It will star Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) and Demi Moore in lead roles while Owen Harris of Black Mirror will direct and produce the show.

Lloyd and Brown Findlay will play Bernard Marx and Lenina Crowne, citizens of New London who have only ever known a rigid social order, a perfect pharmaceutical called Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex.

Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, the two New Worlders embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion. Bernard and Lenina are rescued by John the Savage, played by Ehrenreich, who escapes with them back to New London.

John’s arrival in the New World soon threatens to disrupt its utopian harmony, leaving Bernard and Lenina to grapple with the repercussions. The three become entwined in a fraught relationship that awakens them to the dangers of their own conditioning.

The official air date is yet to be announced, but with the first teaser trailer recently released viewers can expect to see the series in the coming months.

It will air in the UK on Sky One and streaming service NowTV which is home to the latest boxsets.
