HAC HOUSE PARTY... PART TWO

THE LEGENDARY CLUB TAKES OVER UNITED WE STREAM FOR A SECOND TIME THIS WEEKEND, WITH A VIRUAL CLASSICIAL PERFORMANCE

- By DAISY JACKSON

HACIENDA Classical will be headlining this weekend’s stay-at-home rave with United We Stream, as the legendary Manchester club prepares to throw its second house party.

Taking over the platform this bank holiday weekend for an epic 12-hour session, DJ Graeme Park and musical director Tim Crooks will once again bring together Manchester Camerata players.

The event, which marries classical music with iconic tunes from the Hacienda’s heyday, is always a sellout when it takes place at Castlefield Bowl each summer and has visited Glastonbury, Kendal Calling and the Royal Albert Hall since it was created in 2016.

Now the Manchester Camerata’s musicians will be arranged under the current social distancing restrictions to lead a special virtual live show, including vocalists Yvonne Shelton, Melanie Williams and Rae Hall.

Last time the Hacienda took over United We Stream, a streaming platform that was set up to support Greater Manchester’s nighttime economy, a whopping 1.6 million people tuned in to watch.

Also hitting the airwaves tomorrow as part of The Hacienda House Part II will be some of the world’s finest DJs, including New York’s Danny Tenaglia, Little Louie Vega and Arthur Baker.

Joining the roster of international names will be Detroit’s Kevin Saunderson and Chicago’s DJ Pierre.

Hacienda stalwarts Graeme Park and Jon Dasilva will both be making their return to the virtual establishment, alongside Allister Whitehead, Peter Hook and DJ Paulette.

The party will take place from midday until midnight tomorrow at unitedwestream.co.uk.

Though the event will be free to watch, viewers are encouraged to donate via the website - earlier this week, it was announced that United We Stream has already raised more than £260,000, with applications now open for businesses to apply for funding.

Eight per cent of funds raised will go to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity and 22pc goes to the Mayor Of Greater Manchester’s Charity.

The remaining 70pc of all money raised goes specifically to support Greater Manchester’s music venues, restaurants, nightclubs, cultural organisations and individuals unable to operate work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peter Hook said: “Here we are again, hopefully, taking everyone’s mind off to a better place just for the day. Remembering the great things about life, love, happiness and of course, The Hacienda. Stay safe, stay home.”

Graeme Park said: “After the huge

success of our last Hacienda House Party I can’t wait to take to the decks again for Part II which promises another huge day of quality tunes from another massive line-up.

“Look out for some surprises too as I plan to dig deep into my archives and drop some tunes you may not have heard for a while.”

Paul Fletcher, FAC 51 The Hacienda manager said: “When we did our first Hacienda House Party Easter Saturday, we had absolutely no idea how it would go.

“Even with an audience of over 1.5 million tuning in, it felt weirdly intimate and there was so much love throughout the day, reaching out from the music, that we just had to do it again.

“Huge thanks and respect to all the DJs, performers, crew and of course James for making all this happen. A lot goes into these shows.

“Don’t forget to donate and stay safe.”

Arthur Baker said: “It’ll be great to have the opportunity to play a set for my friends and family in Manchester, my spiritual UK home.

“With the amazing Hacienda Mayfield Depot gig last year I was actually very anxious about coming back again and rocking out with my old friend Hooky and the crew.

“This will be the next best thing to actually bring there, sharing the digital club waves with my boys Louie, Kenny, Danny, Pierre, Graeme, my girl Paulette and all the rest of the crew.

“Looking forward to playing some classics and some of my rocking new tunes. Take care and be safe!”

Manchester is a city that continues to rave on despite the ongoing nationwide lockdown we’ve just had to move the party to our homes for now.

Tune in to unitedwestream.co.uk from 12pm until midnight tomorrow for the Hacienda House Part II stay-athome rave.
