Six more arrests in Aya murder inquiry

Bury council owns part of the site but Homes England, which applied for outline planning consent for the developmen­t, owns the majority of the land.

Pre-developmen­t work identified in a report to cabinet includes technical studies, land maintenanc­e and specialist planning, marketing and legal advice.

These costs, together with the cost of drawing up the masterplan and applying for planning permission, are estimated to be £120,000.

NINE people have now been arrested by detectives investigat­ing the shooting death of a teenage student.

Innocent passerby Aya Hachem, 19, a law student at Salford University, was hit by one of several shots fired from a vehicle as she walked to a supermarke­t near her home in Blackburn on Sunday. She died from a single wound to the chest.

Detectives have been granted an additional 36 hours by magistrate­s to continue questionin­g three men, aged 33, 36 and 39, all from Blackburn, on suspicion of her murder after their arrests on Monday.

Yesterday, Lancashire Police said they had made six more arrests. Three men aged 28, 31 and 35 were held on suspicion of murder and two women aged 19 and 26 and a 29-year-old man were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
