Celebration cameras set up for happy goalscorers
PREMIER League players will be informed of dedicated ‘celebration cameras’ that they can head to after scoring, while clubs will be allowed to play music after goals in measures announced to improve the viewing experience when the top-flight restarts.
Players have been told they must maintain social distancing whenever possible when the season resumes behind closed doors, including while celebrating, temporarily spelling an end to mass huddles.
Where feasible, however, broadcasters will identify a specific camera that players can celebrate in front of.
Clubs will be able to play music at ‘trigger points’ during the match, including kick-off, goals and substitutions by the home club.
Unlike in the EFL, Premier League clubs will not be allowed to pump fake crowd noise into the stadium but fans watching from home can choose to add ‘atmospheric audio’ – created by EA Sports, the designers of the Fifa video game series.
Broadcasters had pushed for increased access, including dressing room cameras and half-time player and manager interviews, but the only concessions from clubs will be extra footage from inside the tunnel area without sound and audio of the captains’ coin-toss with the referee.
The top-flight also confirmed all 20 stadia will include a wrap across the lower tier designed by each club in a bid ‘to improve the environment both visually and acoustically, as well as creating consistency across the competition’.
