NO new deaths caused by COVID19 have been recorded in Greater Manchester’s hospitals for the second time since the crisis began.

The NHS publishes 24-hour mortality data for every hospital trust in England, charting every coronavirus death in their facility.

This is the second time no new Covid deaths were recorded by hospitals in Greater Manchester since the start of lockdown.

The wider north west region also reported no new fatalities in its data.

However, previous weeks have shown a lag in the recording of deaths at weekends.

Nor do the daily figures include people who died in care homes or other community settings.

The region’s hospital death toll currently stands at 2, 080.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Monday, July 6 is:

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust 222; Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9; Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 427; NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6; Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 545; Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6; Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 178; Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 214; Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 207; The Christie NHS Foundation Trust 13; Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 253.

The NHS publishes data relating to the number of deaths that have been recorded at each hospital trust in England in the last 24 hours. These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

These often include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed and for data from the tests to be validated.

Fifteen more people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,904.

Patients were aged between 42 and 93 years old, NHS England said.
