A WOMAN and boy were violently attacked in a ‘terrifying and despicable’ burglary.

Three masked men, one armed with a crowbar, broke into a house and attacked a 44-year-old woman and 14-year-old boy.

Two of the men shouted at the woman, demanding she told them the location of a safe.

The incident happened on Chapel Green Road in Hindley, Wigan.

Police said one of the men held the woman her by the neck and punched her numerous times in the face.

One of the raiders hit the boy with a stool before pushing him to the floor and stealing his phone from his hand. The thugs grabbed the woman’s phone before running into the garden.

They took two phones, an iPad, jewellery and cash.

Police said the men were seen in the garden shed before running off towards Argyle Street.

The woman was hit in the head with a tool box as the men ran past.

She was treated by paramedics, but didn’t need to go to hospital.

One man had dark hair and brown eyes. Another had ginger hair.

The third was mixed race. He was wearing grey shorts and Nike Air Max trainers.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Det Con Sean Goddard, of GMP’s Wigan division, said: “These victims were subjected to a terrifying ordeal in their own home which has left them feeling unsafe and scared.
