Crash-stabbing victim recovering in hospital
A YOUNG man who was stabbed in Moss Side following a car crash is recovering in hospital, according to police.
The 21-year-old suffered serious injuries but his condition now said to stable following the incident on Friday night.
The M.E.N. reported that the stabbing was the culmination of a car chase and that officers suspected may have been a ‘taxing’, where one group robs a rival faction.
Yesterday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed their initial enquiries suggested the incident had been preceded by a robbery and a chase involving a black Renault Clio and a silver Seat Ibiza.
The drama ended with the Clio crashing on Great Western Street shortly before 8.30pm on Friday.
A witness said it had been forced off the road.
One man, 21, was taken to hospital with serious stab injuries thought to have been suffered near Mesob restaurant on nearby Princess Road.
Appealing to the public for information, a spokesman for GMP said: “No arrests have been made and an investigation is under way. Detectives believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no wider threat to the public.”
One witness, who declined to be named, described how two cars came ‘racing’ through the traffic lights at the junction of Great Western and Princess Road and then one of the vehicles blocked in the other.
One of the men in the pursuing car got out and stabbed a man in the dark saloon, he said. The victim managed to stagger a short distance but collapsed outside Mesob, he added. Anyone with information can call police on 0161 856 4409 quoting incident number 3572 of 07/08/2020.
