IN A post that has gathered over 78K likes, Victoria Villarroel embodies the dewy glow that we all aspire to achieve.

As she perches behind her newest Cannalogica haul she oozes that perpetual summer, beauty-from-theinside, wheatgrass-shots-at-6am vibrancy that we yearn for when we inspect the mirror for undereye bags and puffy skin.

CBD treatment has taken the UK by storm over the past couple of years. Following in the footsteps of the US, Britain has changed its attitude towards the chemical compound derived from hemp as new studies investigate a multitude of possible health benefits.

CBD products that contain less than 0.2% THC content (the well-known pyschoactive compound found in cannabis Sativa) are legal in the UK, and are sold as a health supplement.

High-quality CBD products undergo a rigorous and strict method of processing and extraction to ensure that they have little to no THC whilst still containing the suggested benefits of CBD (also known as cannabidiol).

CBD-based businesses have been quick to utilise the new-found popularity of hemp-based products with everything from CBD cafes to CBD infused toothpicks being readily available.

After finding success in the Netherlands and New York, the Dutch company Cannalogica opened its first UK Treatment Lab in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Wilmslow’s Cannalogica Treatment Lab was set up remotely from the Netherlands due to the current pandemic. Despite being established from afar, the treatment rooms have proven to be a success with some of Cheshire’s biggest names such as Leanne Brown and Lauren Simon from The Real Housewives of Cheshire dropping in.

The achievements made by the new Cannalogica Treatment Lab bodes well for the company’s franchise model. Aware of the effect that Covid-19 has had on much of the beauty industry, Cannalogica offers beauty therapists a “business in a box”.

The person wanting to build a franchise chooses their location, and Cannalogica supplies the products and the brand so that those with the entrepreneurial streak can get a head-start on building the business of their dreams.

Part of the company’s immediate success is not only the sleek branding and the quality of products on offer, but also people’s increased knowledge of CBD and the reported benefits. People have also become more conscious of their skin and taking care of the quality of their skin.

The effect of face-coverings and a more indoors-based sedentary lifestyle has caused a surge in people searching for skincare solutions. The newlycoined term “maskne” shows how our current lifestyle is taking its toll on our appearance.

Because more people are conscious of how their skin is reacting to our recent change in habits, Cannalogica has seen an increase in the amount of men visiting their treatment labs.

They have also seen people purchasing their products due to the company’s diligence in creating skincare that is as natural as possible.

Cannalogica’s skincare is combined in a clinical laboratory setting by expert toxicologists and scientists, yet at it’s core every single ingredient used is natural.

The company prides itself on its ethical stance in relation to ingredients and packaging. Plastic packaging is used infrequently and is made up of over 97% recycled plastics. The rest of the packaging is recyclable cardboard and glass.

One of the company’s main aims is to strip-back on packaging and how much waste it produces. Sustainability is of key concern to Cannalogica, and the company is critical of fast-fashion and the effects the clothing and beauty industry is having on the environment.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We have a responsibility as a corporation to the planet, which is why we are looking into ways in which we can improve our sustainability.

“In the US we are working on a safe way to introduce refillable options to Cannalogica. There are hurdles to overcome, but as a company we recognise how important this is.”
