Superstar Foden is one of England’s best - Micah
FORMER City defender Micah Richards has hailed Phil Foden as a ‘superstar’ following his latest eye-catching performance.
The England international netted the only goal of the game in the 1-0 victory over Brighton.
Richards has regularly hailed the 20-year-old since his breakthrough at the Blues and has now doubled down on his assessment.
“I’ve talked about him many times. I think he’s a superstar, I genuinely think he’s one of the best English talents we’ve produced for a long time,” he said. “He’s so comfortable on the ball, he can go right, he can go left.”
Meanwhile another fellow former City ace Joleon Lescott says he is ‘obsessed’ with the ‘Stockport Iniesta’.
“What the club means to him and for him to be top goalscorer at this point in the season, with his heroes in the squad - Sergio Aguero and players like that - it means the world to him,” said the ex-City defender.
“I know how much it means to him to play for this club and to contribute the way he is doing is remarkable.
“It’s great to see. We’re constantly saying he’s in the form of his life. I think he contributes and makes an impact on every game.
“The touch (for the goal against Brighton) was no surprise, and his composure under pressure! None of those things surprise me with Phil Foden. The only surprise was that he took the shot on with his right foot.
“But I think he surprised the keeper. It was a great touch inside, I think, (Adam) Webster, and the keeper has got all his weight on his right-hand side to go to his opposite side.
“And he’s dragged it near post and it’s like a pass into the net there. Great finish.”
