Early exit as issues curtail dance show

-

THE final of Dancing On Ice has been brought forward due to injury and Covid exits.

The ITV skating competition has been struck by various issues during the series.

As a result the show, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, will now finish a week earlier than planned.

An ITV spokesperson said in a statement: “ITV have taken the decision to move the final of Dancing on Ice forward by one week.

“The competition’s final will now take place on Sunday 14 March. Our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times.

“Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is our top priority and we look forward to the rest of the series, on air from this Sunday at 6pm.”

There are now just five couples remaining in the competition and will skate in Movie Week this Sunday - Faye Brookes, Colin Jackson, Rebekah Vardy, Sonny Jay and Lady Leshurr.

Earlier this week, Phillip appeared to cast doubt over Dancing On Ice’s return at the weekend after taking a break last week.

In its place, a two-hour special aired which looked back at some of the shows greatest moments over the years.

Jason Donovan was the latest star to pull out due to a back injury earlier this week.

It came after Denise Van Outen and Billie Shepherd had to leave the competition due to injury, while Rufus Hound and Joe-Warren Plant were forced out the show after testing positive for coronavirus.

The ITV show also has no reserve skaters remaining after Matt Richardson and Amy Tinkler both stepped in before being eliminated in the skate-off.
