Police probe after ‘shots fired at party’

Bullet casings taken away for analysis

DETECTIVES are investigat­ing after gun shots were fired.

Officers received a report of a party at an address on Fairway Avenue, Sale, just after 1am on Saturday.

Around ten minutes later, a further call reported shots being fired at the address.

Officers attended and no one was injured.

Police found bullet casings, which have been recovered for forensic analysis.

A scene was put in place while detectives carried out enquiries.

Detective Inspector Christophe­r Maddocks, from GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “This is understand­ably an incident that has left a community worried and we’re currently working to understand what happened and who was responsibl­e.

“I’d like to thank residents nearby for cooperatin­g while we carry out with enquiries.

“At this time, we believe the incident to have been isolated and would ask anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

“Anyone who may have seen anything or has any informatio­n should call 0161 856 6063 quoting log number 186 of February 27.”
