Victim is slashed across face by knifeman

POLICE MAKE ARREST AFTER MAN SUFFERS CUT TO HIS CHEEK DURING ‘ALTERCATIO­N’ IN STREET

A MAN was slashed in the face following an ‘altercatio­n with a knife’ outside a newsagent in Moston.

Police were called to the McColl’s convenienc­e store on Lightbowne Road at around 1.30pm on Thursday, January 14 following an argument between two men.

Upon their arrival officers discovered that a man, aged 32, had suffered a cut to his cheek.

He sustained the injury following an ‘altercatio­n with a knife,’ GMP said.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and has since been released under investigat­ion.

Speaking to the M.E.N, the victim said he is lucky not to have been more seriously injured, as the wound is close to his eye.

Pictures show the man’s face covered in blood following the incident.

He appears to have a deep gash to the side of his face.

A spokespers­on for GMP said: “Police were called following an argument at a McColl’s convenienc­e store on Light-bowne Road in Moston at around 1.30pm on Thursday 14 January, involving two men.

“A 32-year-old man suffered a cut to his cheek following an altercatio­n with a knife.

“A 32-year-old man’s been arrested and released under investigat­ion. “Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokespers­on for McColl’s said: “We have informed the police of the incident and are unable to comment further.”
