‘Number one’ target Erling not moved by transfer chat

- By DANIEL MURPHY

ERLING Haaland has poured cold water on rumours that he could leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with United among several teams interested in the striker.

Haaland has established himself as one of the most exciting young players in Europe since his move to Germany last year, scoring a stunning 49 goals in 49 games, as well as racking up a further 11 assists.

As a result of his remarkable scoring form, which recently saw him become the youngest player to score 20 times in the Champions League, he is attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs ahead of the transfer window.

M.E.N. Sport understands United have made Haaland their priority striker target as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and football director John Murtough see him as the ideal long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

City, meanwhile, amid the uncertainty surrounding Sergio Aguero’s future, have put a new striker at the top of their transfer list, with the Blues confident in their chances of landing the 20-year-old.

However, Haaland has remained coy over a potential move in the summer by pointing out he still has a lengthy contract with Dortmund.

While on international duty with Norway in Spain Haaland said: “I still have a three-year contract, I’m not concerned about that.”

Haaland recently fuelled speculation about his happiness at Dortmund after throwing his shirt to the ground in anger following Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Cologne, but has now apologised for his ‘wrong reaction.’
