THERE is a chance of further snowfall in parts of Greater Manchester in the next 48 hours as a cold blast continues to bring erratic weather conditions.
Parts of the region, including Manchester city centre, woke up to a dusting of snow yesterday, with temperatures touching freezing, leading to widespread frost.
Sunshine followed as dawn broke and it has remained bright, but cold, for most of the day.
It was a stark contrast to this time last week, when people headed outside to enjoy the balmy temperatures.
The Met Office warns it is likely to remain chilly – especially in the wind.
Forecasters say it should remain largely dry, but that there will be ‘the odd snow shower’ in the north west over the course of the week.
Local twitter forecaster Oldham Weather warned dropping temperatures would lead to frost.
Greater Manchester was expected to be cold throughout today, with a peak of just 5C.
After a bright start, tomorrow looks likely to be much overcast. It is expected to remain largely cold, wintry and windy, with widespread frosts.
There is the chance of some isolated showers into the early hours of Thursday, when winds are expected to strengthen. Temperatures could touch double figures and peak at around 10C for the first time in several days.
More rain is forecast in the early hours of Friday, with the Met Office saying low temperatures could mean more wintry conditions.
Intermittent sunny spells and periods of cloud are likely on Friday afternoon into the evening, with a maximum temperature of around 8C. Next week is expected to remain cold.
