Teenager seriously hurt in stab attack
A TEENAGE boy was seriously injured after being stabbed.
Police were called to Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton - close to the junction with Mauldeth Road West and Hardy Lane - just before 7pm last night.
The victim was taken to hospital. Police say there was a large gathering of youths in the area around the time of the attack.
Witnesses at the scene told the M.E.N. that around 100 people, mainly youths, had gathered close to the Co-op for a wake to a teenager killed in a car crash.
A shopkeeper told the M.E.N. a group from out of the area had come to confront some of the youths at the wake
Detectives on the scene could be seen examining CCTV footage from neighbouring buildings and carrying out door-to-door enquiries.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At 6.55pm on Tuesday police were called to Barlow Moor Road to reports of a male having been stabbed.
“On arrival officers found a male youth with serious injuries and a large gathering of youths. He has been taken to hospital.
“Police remain at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing.”
