Ferdinand tells United: We deserve answers now

- By JOSH CHALLIES

RIO Ferdinand has slammed outgoing United executive vicechairman Ed Woodward following the European Super League fiasco.

While the consensus is that football has won a crucial power battle, the former Reds captain remains furious the decision was made in the first place and believes those responsible should be held accountable.

“You can’t come out and give us a blanket cover-up story and not tell us why. Ed Woodward resigned, I want to know why, where are you Ed? I know you personally,” said Ferdinand.

“I want to know why, were you part of this? I could sit here and hammer Ed Woodward, I could sit here and hammer the Glazers. I could sit here and hammer all the owners of these football clubs.

“I don’t want to waste my time doing that, I just want answers. They should be put up on a pedestal, like they wanted to be, these six great clubs, well come out now and answer some questions, that’s what the fans deserve.”

Supporters across the country, along with players, pundits and media representatives, slammed the Super League proposals and the situation sparked fierce debate regarding potential punishments and changes to the way the game is governed.

United fans have long made their feelings about the Glazers’ ownership clear and there are increased calls for the American owners to sell up.

Similar demands have been made by Arsenal and Liverpool supporters, with City, Chelsea and Spurs fans also left extremely unhappy.
