AS the winter months approach and the darker evenings begin to creep in, there is still comfort to be found in the chilly November nights.

Clear, crisp and cold evenings are the perfect backdrop for the cosy novelty and mystique of bonfire night.

As the temperature begins to drop and the night’s sky draws in at an earlier hour, there’s something bewitching about draping yourself in your cosiest coat and warming winter gloves to stand outside with loved ones, holding a warm drink and watching a spectacular fireworks show.

Saj Munir, the proud owner of Chorlton Fireworks and Prestigious Pyrotechnics, shares this sentiment entirely.

He has worked in the fireworks industry for 15 years, and he has been trading as Chorlton Fireworks for nine.

“I have always been fascinated by fireworks,”

Saj explained.

“I love the atmosphere, the smell and the fact that it gives families the opportunity to have time together and enjoy themselves. It’s a British tradition loved by many.”

“I just love the dazzling magic of science in action. The raw power and beauty of fireworks, the effects, colour and noise all coming together to captivate and mesmerise and leave you wanting more.”

Saj was a November baby, his birthday falling just days after bonfire night, and he has many fond memories of celebrating his special day with an electrifying fireworks display and an impressive bonfire.

Saj said: “Having a birthday near Guy Fawkes Night, fireworks have become a technicolour backdrop to all my birthday celebrations.”

“But when I was 18, the choice of fireworks was limited, with only a few brand names dominating the UK market. And buying options for fireworks was even more limited.”

After his hard work and creative contributions to the fireworks industry, it’s safe to say that Saj’s birthday firework displays are no longer limited.

Saj urgently asks for all underage people to stay away from the use of fireworks. He stresses that anyone under the age of 18 who tries to purchase fireworks will be turned away from his shop.

Saj says: “It is illegal to attempt to buy fireworks or have fireworks in your possession in public places if under the age of 18.”

“Chorlton Fireworks operates a challenge 21 policy so if you are one of the lucky youthful looking people visiting our store please do not forget your ID.” He added.

With customers traveling from all over the UK to purchase his outstanding fireworks, it’s clear that Saj is committed not only to providing the best fireworks possible, but to being a pioneer in new firework technology, developing brighter, more colourful and awe-inspiring pyrotechnics.

“My interest in pyrotechnics has only deepened during the years, and I now design and manufacture my own range of fireworks under the brand ‘Prestigious Pyrotechnics’,” Saj said.

“I am currently working with chemists and technicians in China, developing new fireworks with innovative effects and hard to produce colours.”

Having designed his own fireworks, Saj is the rightful recipient of multiple awards.

“Two of our newest fireworks, ‘White Spirit’ & ‘Pyroclastic Storm’, which were launched in the UK in

September 2020, have just won the Best Medium Cake & Best Compound Award in the 2021 Fireworks Awards,” he explained.

A lot of thought, care and creativity goes into designing these products.

Saj said: “It took 10 months to develop these fireworks from idea to ignition.”

“We used several different effects and colours in the compound firework to create an unforgettable, show-stopping display.”

He is especially proud that he created ‘Pyroclastic Storm’, and said: “It provides a 65-second display of effects and colour followed by a magnificent stream of fast firing explosions and a finale of 24 simultaneous angled breaks, it’s a display in itself.”

Prestigious Pyrotechnics aim to provide unbeatable fireworks displays for any event. They will design your display, set it up, operate it, and deal with the safety and insurance as well.

They supply firework displays for all occasions, as well as gender reveal fireworks, funeral ashes fireworks, confetti, fountains, stage pyrotechnics, fire writing and much more.

The business is very popular, boasting many customers from popular local TV shows, football clubs and other social media & sporting personalities.

Providing fireworks with the brightest bang for your buck is important to Saj, however, giving back to his community is just as important to him.

The company is active in supporting many sports clubs, charities and scout groups in Greater Manchester, as well as avidly supporting The Fire Fighters Charity.

The life-saving charity does some truly amazing work, it is one that is especially close to Saj’s heart. You can join Saj and Chorlton Fireworks in donating to this crucial cause by clicking https://www.firefighterscharity.org.uk/donate.

Saj is incredibly passionate about his job. He believes in the power of community, and he hopes that both his charity work, and his supplying of spectacular firework displays, will help to bring people together, and put a smile on people’s faces.

So much so that he came together with The Lead Station bar and Chorlton football club to ensure that Chorlton would still be able to enjoy a bonfire night display when it was cancelled last minute in 2017.

Saj donated many fireworks to the display in Chorlton to guarantee that the families of his Town would still be able to come together in celebration.

He said: “I really enjoy what I do. Selling and making award-winning fireworks that safely bring the power, pace and burst size of professional fireworks closer to consumer fireworks. Today, the limits are just my imagination.”

The sheer scale of the options that Saj has on offer at Chorlton Fireworks is monumental. He goes above and beyond to ensure that his products are leagues above anything that you would find in your average supermarket.

Due to drastically increased prices of shipping fireworks, as well as a shortages due to manufacturing setbacks, Saj and many others in the industry are expecting it to be a tough year to get your hands on some fireworks.

Saj assures his loyal customers that business will be be open as usual, but he advises customers to get to him early with their fireworks requests.

firewOrk safety tips

Saj ensures that those who purchase his fireworks are fully briefed on all safety precautions. Fireworks are never to be sold to children and safety measures need to be employed at all times

Saj said: “Fireworks are fantastic fun, but at the end of the day, they’ re still explosives.”

“Safety is paramount, and we operate in a heavily regulated and heavily monitored industry with strong laws in place controlling the sale and use of fireworks.”

“We’re all about safety here at Chorlton Fireworks, and we help customers plan safe and spectacular displays by providing detailed information on all the fireworks we sell here.”

“So that includes safety distance, duration, number of shots, noise level, the type of pattern and effects, and the powder weight, hazard class and tube size.”

sOme Of saj’s tOp tips are:

- Store your fireworks in a closed and secure container. Take fireworks out one at a time, putting the lid back on every time.

- Read all instructions carefully and secure the firework as instructed to make sure it can not fall over. Then retreat back to the advised minimum safety distance or further if possible.

- Safety distances are given as a minimum so the further away you can get the better. Not only does this keep you safe, but it means that you can enjoy from a comfortable distance without straining your neck.

- Do not allow a naked flame to be close to the fireworks

unless you’re lighting them.

- When you light the fireworks, ensure that your arms are outstretched from the side, so that your face is never directly above the explosive.

- Stand well back of the fireworks, and don’t return to

it once it’s been lit, even if it didn’t go off.

- Keep your pets indoors, and far away from any fireworks. https://chorltonfireworks.com/
