A TEENAGER is fighting for his life following a ‘tragic’ horror crash.

Police said the man, in his ‘late teens,’ was driving a Seat Ibiza which collided with a Skoda Octavia at about 10.15pm in Crumpsall on Friday.

He was rushed to hospital and is described as being in a critical condition, after suffering serious injuries.

The driver of the Skoda and three passengers are also in hospital.

GMP said no arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.

Waterloo Street was shut off from Celia Street to Brightside Road last night as the emergency services worked at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Marie Eldred, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and we are following all lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision. We are hopeful that there are people who may have information about this collision that can help assist in our investigation.

“We are especially keen to speak to people who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the vehicles involved in the lead up or directly after the incident.”

Firefighters cut three people out of the wreckage in the aftermath of the collision.

“At 10.17pm firefighters from Blackley and Philips Park fire stations and the technical response unit from Ashton were deployed to a road traffic collision on Waterloo Street in Crumpsall, Manchester,” a fire service spokesman said last night.

“The incident involved two vehicles and five injured people.

“Three people were trapped and in need of fire service extraction.

“All three people have now been rescued by firefighters who worked closely with colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service to protect the people involved.”
