Thug spoils boy’s party with fire extinguisher

MOTHER SAYS CELEBRATION WAS ENDED THANKS TO ‘RACIST ATTACK’

A MUM says her son’s birthday ended in tears after a woman sprayed her family with a fire extinguisher as they let off fireworks – and told them to ‘go back where they came from’

The family, from Stockport, were allegedly targeted on Bonfire Night.

The mother said a number of small fountain-type fireworks were let off.

A woman then appeared over the garden fence and sprayed a CO2 extinguisher.

A family member with a heart condition had to go to hospital, the mum told the M.E.N..

She added: “We decided to cut a cake for him, with just immediate family, 12 people in total.

“Everyone came over after school, and at about 6.30pm, we went outside to do fireworks.

“We got fireworks that are fountains, it just sprays colours and [makes] a bit of a crackle, but they do not go in the sky and explode.

“The fireworks were at the bottom of the garden. My dad was lighting them.

“Within a couple of minutes we heard a whoosh and there was a thick smoke.

“Everyone was screaming, coughing, and spluttering. We ran inside.

“We saw her spraying us down with a fire extinguisher.”

The woman added: “My brother-inlaw had to go to hospital as he has a heart condition. He was in there for two days.

“Both my children [were] off school and nursery with breathing issues, my son is currently hooked up to a nebuliser to clear his lungs.

“All that CO2 went in [my family’s] lungs. Our clothes were destroyed. The worst thing was to be told to go back to where we came from.

“I’m born and bred here. My parents are the same. My family came here in 1942. We are British. To be told that and assaulted... it was mortifying.”

Greater Manchester Police said a woman was arrested.

A spokesperson said: “A woman has been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.”
