TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘lovely’ and ‘genuine’ man who died in an Oldham car crash.

Karl Edward Young, 34, was driving a Mazda 3 car which came off Huddersfield Road, in Delph, and smashed into a tree at 8.40pm on November 10.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died from his injuries.

The passenger - 21-year-old actor Reiss Jarvis - was also killed in the collision.

Paying tribute to Karl, his family said: “Karl was one of life’s truly lovely and genuine people. He was kind, gentle and loved by so many.

“He was a lifelong Oldham Athletic fan and keen sports enthusiast, who loved to travel and led a full life surrounded by a large family and many friends.

“It’s beyond words how much we will miss Karl. “Losing him is unbearable and has left a huge void in our lives.

“Our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same but we had the absolute pleasure and honour of being part of his life and sharing so many happy times together. That is our only comfort at this dark time.” Following the crash, Reiss’ friend Kieran Ackers said: “I’ve known him for years. My mum moved away when I was younger and without him I would have had nowhere else to go, he put a roof over my head.

“He did not deserve this. He was one of the nicest guys you could meet. It’s only the best that get taken away. “He was one in a million. There was only one Reiss Jarvis - legend.

“He was loved by so many and hated by none. He was my best mate, my right-hand man.”

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, and anyone with information or DashCam or CCTV footage should contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 2878 of 10/11/21.
