Roller skater left with head injuries after bus collision
He’s in stable condition as police make appeal for witnesses
A MAN suffered head injuries after being hit by a double decker bus in Manchester city centre.
Emergency services were called to Princess Street at the junction with Mosley Street at around 3.30pm on Friday to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on roller skates and a bus.
A 29-year-old man was rushed to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, police said in an update yesterday morning. They are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Road closures were in place and tram lines were disrupted for several hours whilst police carried out their investigations outside Manchester Art Gallery until around 8.30pm.
A police incident command van was spotted at the scene and forensic markers could be seen on the floor. A double decker bus could be seen inside the cordon with a police officer on board.
Pc Karl Horner, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As our investigation continues, we are hoping the pedestrian makes a full recovery.
“Due to the bank holiday and weather, Manchester city centre was busy yesterday so we have no doubt that members of the public may have witnessed this collision and the lead up to it – perhaps even capturing footage on their mobile phones.
“I ask anyone with information or footage, whether that be from mobile phones, dash cams or cyclists’ action cameras to share it with us without delay.”
