Interiors shop set to close after 17 years
A POPULAR interior design shop has announced it is closing its doors – days after a much-loved restaurant down the road shut.
Moth in West Didsbury is to close its Burton Road store after 17 years later this month.
The home and lifestyle store, a staple in the neighbourhood since 2006, will move all its products online, with the company’s founder saying it is time for the brand to take a ‘new path’ in an emotional social media post.
Hazel Marchant wrote: “After 17 years our West Didsbury store will be closing and Moth will be on a new path. It feels time for Moth to keep evolving. As life naturally changes and flows personally and for a brand. It has been incredible to be part of such a wonderful community. I send my heartfelt gratitude to you all. Everyone who has ever visited our store. Moth wouldn’t have made a home in West Didsbury for so long without you. Moth isn’t disappearing. We are excited to be moving online with a new website. Whilst we adapt and start Moth’s new chapter and adventure we will be taking a pause. I hope you join us on our new path. It has been a joy.”
Customers were quick to express their sadness. One wrote: “Oh no, so sad. It’s my favourite shop to visit on Burton Road. Your displays, the scent of whatever candle...always just that perfect gift. You will definitely be missed.”
Moth is the second business in West Didsbury to close as 2024 gets under way, with vegetarian restaurant Greens – run by TV chef Simon Rimmer – also revealing it was shutting its doors after 33 years in the suburb.
