Aguero says Toon ace is Blues ‘match’

Add to the list the three players who remained at City to work on their recoveries – Ederson, Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish – and there are seven players who are uncertain to be available to face Arsenal, including the talisman, first-choice goalkeeper, captain, world-class centre-back and versatile defender in good form.
Then there is the fact that Haaland started two games, so did Phil Foden, Gvardiol and Ake – with Jeremy Doku and Mateo Kovacic playing in both games, and 90 minutes for Julian Alvarez, Rodri, Bernardo and Dias. There was not much help from international managers despite Guardiola’s hopes.
There is every chance that Ederson, De Bruyne and Grealish will be fit to face Arsenal, with reports positive on Walker, and others possibly just not risked on Tuesday.
Guardiola will hope for some good news in that sense after ten days of bad news after bad news.
SERGIO Aguero has named Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as the player who ‘matches’ City’s style.
The summer transfer window is likely to see plenty of speculation surrounding which players may or may not be signed by the Blues.
Four new signings were made last summer, with Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku, Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic all arriving.
Guimaraes has been tentatively linked with a move away from Newcastle this summer, as the club looks to ensure it complies with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and Financial Fair Play (FFP).
The Brazilian is reported to have a £100m release clause in his contract, which is only likely to see the rumours around his future continue.
Aguero, who scored 260 goals across 390 appearances for City, has weighed in on Guimaraes’s future.
“Bruno’s [Guimaraes] style as a midfielder matches City’s, that much I can say, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you more than that,” Aguero told Stake.com.
Guimaraes was signed by Newcastle in January 2022 from Lyon in a deal worth £40m.
