NEW SIGNINGS!
MATCH takes a look at some of July’s Premier League arrivals!
DJED SPENCE TOTTENHAM
Some gossips reckon Chelsea tried to convince Spence to make a late move to Stamford Bridge, but the England youngster had his heart set on Tottenham! He grew up in the Fulham academy with Ryan Sessegnon so he already has a best mate at the club. He was one of Nottingham Forest’s star players last season as they gained promotion!
JESSE LINGARD NOTT’M FOREST
We honestly thought JLingz would be starting the season in a West Ham shirt, so we were surprised when Forest announced his signature! He’s only signed a one-year deal so if things go terribly he can leave next summer. We think he chose the Prem new boys because he’s guaranteed game time and he’s eyeing a spot in England’s World
Cup squad!
LISANDRO MARTINEZ MAN. UNITED
Some pundits have been writing 1,000-word essays on how the ex-Ajax centre-back is going to be the smallest CB in the Premier League! They must have forgotten that the only CB to win the Ballon d’Or – Fabio Cannavaro – was the same height as Martinez! The Red Devil defender is still strong in the air, an aggressive tackler and quality on the ball!
OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO ARSENAL
Tottenham fans have started jokingly calling Arsenal “Man. City’s Reserves” after The Gunners landed Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus this summer! We think that’s harsh and could come back to bite Spurs fans later in the season. The Ukraine international is a great squad player as he can play at left-back or in midfield and has bundles of technical ability!
KALIDOU KOULIBALY CHELSEA
Koulibaly is basically the perfect replacement for Antonio Rudiger! The strong Senegal centre-back is a natural leader who’s comfortable on the ball and a beast in aerial duels. He’s been linked with a move to the Premier League throughout his career and finally gets the chance to show what he’s made of alongside international team-mate Edouard Mendy!
