KEEPING IT LOW

-

Sometimes you don’t want to take off at all. It might be the first time that you’ve ridden a section and you have no idea what’s coming up, or perhaps you just want to play it safe. Whatever the reason, you can still roll the feature at the same speed that you would normally jump it at. You just need to change the timing of the push. Come in low and aim to deliver your entire range of motion into the jump early. This will ground you in the feature and mean that you have more room available to suck up the impact that remains. As the jump continues to progress, come off the weight and pull the bike up underneath you with your legs and arms. You should be able to absorb the rest of the upturn and cancel out any upward momentum. Once off the ground and clear of the lip with both wheels, stand back up and drive your bike down towards the ground again. Time this right and you won’t take off at all.
