PEAKS – THE BEAST

The Beast has become a staple of Peak District rides. So much so that it’s easy to underestimate it. Which would be a mistake. Sure you can blunder your way through and make it to the bottom unscathed, but to ride it well, that takes skill. The sunken lane is covered in rock, some loose, most definitely not. Working out which is which, when to go light and when to push hard is all part of the puzzle. Get your lines right and you can hop, skip and carve your way to the bottom with grace and finesse; get them wrong and you’ll be mauled from top to bottom. It’s not called The Beast for nothing.
