Entering an event isn’t really about the event itself. Not for us, anyway. It’s more about the journey – it gives you focus and acts as something to aim for. As long as you allow yourself to commit to it, you can use a challenge like this to stay sober on a Saturday night, get out of bed early to train twice a week, or even tidy up your diet. Taking all this time to yourself might be a tricky one to explain to your better half, but being selfish a couple of times a week will allow you to get in better shape, give you something healthy to pursue, and more importantl­y, allow you to feel good about yourself. Encouragin­g your partner to pursue something similar might sweeten the deal, so why not take turns in supporting each other? It might lead to a healthier situation for both of you.
