GOING HARD

-

Pushing yourself towards an event or some kind of challenge will inevitably mean digging deep and driving through something uncomfortable. Nobody enjoys raising their heart rate so high that they feel like being sick, but when you expose yourself to a physical demand like this on a regular basis, something inside of you changes. You start believing in yourself. It tends to creep in at first. You might not even want to admit it to anyone around you, but after a few weeks of training hard you start being able to go for longer and do more, and it feels amazing. This in turn gives you confidence, and you will start looking for larger and more ridiculous challenges. The first time you do a VO2 max test, you’ll want to die. After a few, you’ll be trying to beat your previous effort and pushing yourself further. Make sure you temper those hard efforts with easy recovery rides though, or you’ll burn out.
