“I’m come up from Leicester and last did Ard Rock in 2015.

I’ve tried to keep riding as much as I can during lockdown, but mainly been limited to local stuff – bridleway bashing from the door in Leicester, which hasn’t got the best terrain – and then venturing further into the Peak District when we could.

“I did the Boltby Bash at the start of July and now Ard Rock, and it finally feels like we’re getting back to normal a bit, which is really good. This has just been a fantastic event. It’s totally my style of riding – a bit more natural and faster – you’re just blasting across open hills, more like the Peak District stuff I’m used to. It’s been a bit of a big day though, and it’s taken us over six hours to do all seven stages, but they’ve just been amazing.”
