“This is the third time I’ve done Ard Rock now. Me and my daughter Christina have always ridden round the whole course together. We’re originally from Northern Ireland, but both live over here now. I’ve been a keen mountain biker for years and now Christina is more into it too so we can share it.

“It’s just so fantastic to be back. It’s been a long haul for all of us for the last couple of years to get here, and especially for Christina working in the NHS – it’s been a nightmare for them obviously at times. For me, it’s been so great to be able to see her and do this together again, and I’ve really, really enjoyed it. It’s everything about it really – the whole event, all the chat with the marshals, the set up back at the event village and everything else.”
