EVOLUTION

We’ve already mentioned how pricing seems to be converging, and the same is true of geometry. As the trail bike category reaches maturity, it follows a natural trend that leads most brands to the same outcome: head angles in the 64° realm and reach numbers around 480mm on a size L bike. There are exceptions, though. The Nukeproof has the steepest head angle and highest BB but thanks to the suspension and resulting dynamic geometry, it doesn’t feel tall out on the trail. Another outlier is the YT Jeffsy. It has the shortest reach but by far the lowest BB so it is still really stable at speed. And given that we ran all the bikes in the low geometry settings, you could argue that they are all still too high.
