FAST DROPS

-

If you are approaching the same drop as before but you’re going faster, then you might find that as you try to roll it, the sudden forward rotation will be fast enough to throw off your balance. In this case your goal is to not only keep your body weight neutral, but to keep your wheels level in the air as well. That way as they land they will come down at the same time. Remember to get low on the way in – same as before, only this time as you get close to the edge throw your bike forwards and your weight back. This quick throw of your body weight to the rear of your bike will create enough inertia to unweight the front wheel and keep it level as it goes out into space. Time it right, and you’ll have done enough to balance the bike so that both of your wheels come down together and the landing is smooth. When looking at a photograph of someone doing this you could mistakenly think that their weight is back the whole way through, but in reality they came in low, pushed the bike forwards with a punch, and landed back in their neutral position on the way out. Their weight was only back for a splitsecond in order to lighten the front wheel at that vulnerable moment when it’s in the air.
