Skyline, Afan’s only black-graded trail, is open again after a 10-year hiatus – part nostalgia trip, part new build experience, over 45km you’ll take in some of the rockiest, fastest and bermiest (Ed – eh?) trails in South Wales. But you probably know about Skyline already. What you might not know is what the local community has been up to in the Afan Valley: engaging with Natural Resources Wales in an effort to legitimise and manage the off-piste trails dug in over recent years. If Jeff Lewis, who now owns and runs the bike shop and cafe at Glyncorrwg Ponds Visitor Centre, the MTB community and NRW can get some constructive dialogue going then 2022 could be a comeback year for Afan.
