RECOGNISING CORNERS

-

■ BERMED CORNER A berm is a corner with a raised camber around the outside that’s in your favour. You can trust the ground more because as you lean the bike over to turn, the trail basically leans with you. As a result your tyres are always perpendicular to the ground, meaning you can keep your pedals level and really focus on driving your bodyweight back into the trail by keeping your legs strong and pushing back. Do this smoothly and make it last the whole way round (like a skier) and you will not only generate more grip, but exit with more speed as well.
