ROCK AND ROLL
Riding rocky trails is slightly different. Rocks tend to come loose and roll as you apply weight to them. If this movement catches you off guard it can result in a crash, but as long as you are expecting it, you can allow for that movement by staying close to your bike again. If the rock is secure in the dirt then the slide might be caused by the smoothness or degree of angle that is exposed. Even if the rocky surface is completely level it can cause problems in the wet under braking as you will have less grip on it then you have on the dirt around it. All of these quick slides or unstable surfaces are rectified by giving yourself more room to move in the first place. How do you stop sliding on roots and rocks? You don’t. You need to allow for more room to let it happen. That’s how to feel in control.
