Perfecting your bunny hop will mean that you can drive your weight into solid parts of a trail and leave the ground entirely over slippery parts, rougher sections, or even gaps on the track. It’s not a case of lifting your bike from one place to another. Almost the opposite. Come in low and drive your weight into the grippy bits by pushing with your legs, causing you to jump away from the trail. As a consequenc­e of this you’ll go light, clear the stuff you don’t want to hit, and land back down on the next grippy bit. We call these places of traction grip points, and once you start to trust this process, all you see is grip!
