How we test

To gauge track pump efficiency, we hit a Maxxis DHF 29x2.5in tyre with 30 strokes then 60 strokes and measured the air pressure using a super-accurate digital pressure gauge. We also assessed handle stiffness, pump stability, how planted the unit felt on the floor, and measured the hose length. All of that is important because you want to be able to inflate your tyres when your bike is in a workstand.
