LAWLESS LONDON

Journo, racer, survivor of the urban jungle; Fagan at 44Teeth rants about the current dangers of riding in the nation’s capital

-

I’m a proud Englishman. I love my country and we have much to be proud of, but there’s also an everincreasing inventory of grievances boiling the country’s kidney juice. I’m lucky enough to reside in a part of the country that doesn’t come with the constant fear of being banjaxed by a casual machete or an impromptu acid bukkake when riding bikes. The beautiful, rolling Mendip hills and the Salisbury Plain TT offer a motorcycling nirvana and none of the dangers that many urban riders now face on a daily basis. I am, of course, talking about riding in London. Right now, we’re all being robbed of a basic human right. It’s as basic as our right to safety when walking down a street. As basic as nipping to the shops for a pint of milk and a Sherbet Dip. Having your pride and joy robbed in broad daylight is bad enough, but being chased down by thieving scum and threatened with an array of weapons is a whole other level of insult-to-injury. And these violent bike thieves boss the dystopian London streets without a care in the world. They know exactly how to play the game and use the system to make it nearimpossible to stop them.

As far as I’m concerned, these scuzzy b ***** ds have no right to the security of our society. They choose to work against it, relying on their terrorising violence to keep decent humans at arm’s length. All the time cosseted by the protection of our human rights laws. As law-abiding bikers we have to be subject to this terror and physical violence so that the criminal’s civil rights aren’t impeded. It’s madness. The Met are starting a fightback now that the courts have (almost) promised not to prosecute officers for doing their jobs. Manchester police have taken to brute force, ramming suspected bike thieves with Honda CRFs, but we’ve yet to witness this gallantry on a truly effective scale. I’m not going to defend Sadiq Khan for even a split second, but we can’t keep laying the blame directly on the Mayor of London’s door. And we certainly can’t blame the police, who are hamstrung by political and legal correctness. Until the law protects the lawful, rather than those who choose to live outside it, this torrid carnage will persist.
