Gold Cup rescue bid
Scarborough’s big September meeting could be saved
An estimated 48,000 people crammed in to Cadwell Park for the annual ‘Party in the Park’ Bennetts BSB round. The race is one of the championship’s most popular rounds and despite it losing its traditional Bank Holiday weekend date there was no lack of atmosphere. The huge crowd were rewarded with three incredible days of action, brilliant and eventful racing along with the spectacle that is ‘The Mountain’ where there was some impressive air time across all classes. MCN were there all weekend getting a fans’ eye view of the action and this is what you thought of it.
Nick Johnson
Age 42, Lincoln, Suzuki GSX-R1000 “I think it’s such a unique track. I’ve done trackdays here and I love it. I try to get to other races on the calendar, but none of those compare to coming to Cadwell Park.”
Andy Stephenson
Age 55, Poynton, Cheshire. He doesn’t ride, but he follows the sport
“Our local circuit is Oulton, but we are well impressed with this place. You’re close to the action, rather than being fenced off away from the track.”
Alex Stephenson
Age 27, Poynton, Cheshire; Andy’s daughter
“Cadwell is special because it’s the peak of the summer and there’s a bit of everything here and it’s a technical circuit.”
Kelly Cressey
Age 40, Grimsby, doesn’t ride, but her partner used to “This is somewhere I’ve always wanted to come and it’s great because I can bring my young boys. We are camping and we came on Thursday.” Big crowds were rewarded with top-notch action
Don Cross
Age 51, Hull, rides a Kawasaki ZZR1400
“This is probably the best circuit on the BSB calendar as it’s got something extra. It is so narrow, so how people overtake here is beyond me.”
Alan Keeton
Age 52, Doncaster, rides a Yamaha MT-07
“The Mountain is what makes it special. It’s such a great track and the standards have really improved since it was done-up.”
