To celebrate the completion of their Moto2 engine project and their imminent return to GP racing, Triumph have announced a series of special events around this weekend’s Silverstone GP including a parade lap by their 765 Moto2 bike. Today (Wednesday) a host of Moto2 riders including Luca Marini, Sam Lowes, Danny Kent plus Moto3 rider John McPhee, are due at Triumph’s Hinckley factory. The riders will get to see the final Moto2 bike with the finished Triumph engine being run on the dyno. The next time they get so close to the machine will be when they begin testing later this year. Triumph have also offered two prizes for the Two Wheels for Life charity auction as part of the Day of Champions on Thursday. One top bidder will have the chance to join Triumph on one of their global press launches for one of their 2019 models. The all-expenses paid trip to Europe will give the winner the opportunity to be one of the first people in the world to ride the new bikes. There will also be another prize for a winning bidder and nine friends to have a private tour of the Triumph factory, including time with the design team. Arguably the pinnacle of this week’s activities will be when former WSB champion James Toseland takes to the track on the Moto2 prototype. It will be the first time he’s donned his leathers in seven years. The bike, painted in a special Union Jack colour scheme, is the final revision of the 765cc triple motor that will be raced in Moto2 next year.

The new engine has been warmly received in testing, with the increased power and more advanced Magneti Marelli ECU said to make the bikes feel much closer to MotoGP spec.
