MV reveal 205bhp Brutale 1000

MV Agusta’s new Brutale 1000 is the most powerful naked yet

-

Never a firm to do things by half MV Agusta have ‘pulled the pin’, ‘turned it up to 11’ and ‘blown the bloody doors off’. The result is the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro; quite simply the most powerful production naked ever made. Its raging heart is a 205bhp 998cc inline four from the F4RC WSB bike that revs to a spine-tingling 13,600rpm. But it’s not just a straight copy; MV have improved it. The engine has a reshaped combustion chamber, new titanium valves and guides, low-friction piston rings, new cam timing and crankshaft. They’ve also redesigned the airbox, which allows them to ditch the variable intake tracts saving 1kg alone, as well as a new ECU and mapping system. Of course, if 205bhp is not enough, you can always opt for the race kit that nets four extra bhp and loses a few kilos to boot. Naturally to keep all this in check, there’s a new chassis and (a naked bike first) a set of wings.

The chassis is classic MV (aluminium main frame with steel trellis subframe) but there are improvements in this department, too. The result is it’s stable, right up to its top speed of 187mph. To help this, MV have put a pair of aerodynamic carbon fibre wings on the radiator, which start to pile weight onto the front wheel above 120mph to counter-act the wind lifting the bike and rider. It’s finished off with the latest IMU-assisted electronics and Brembo and Öhlins’ finest exotica.

The Serie Oro is MV’s first model in their new Brutale 1000 range, so is limited to 300 units and will come with a fat price tag to boot. MV intend to unveil the core models of the new family in the near future. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any lottery rollovers.
