‘It loves just riding away into the sunset’

-

Best ride Splashing through torrential rain to explore the wild and woolly Shetland Islands.

Longest day I woke up in Venice and with the satnav showing the quickest route home was 1050 miles; 18 hours later I was tucked up in my own bed.

What hurt first? My brain, from all the concentrating.

Anything to confess? I’m heavy handed and find I’m regularly turning the heated grips on, when I’m trying to reset the trip.

High point Breathing clear alpine air, as I rode over the Frejus Pass to cross from France to Italy. Low point Lying on the A970 on Shetland after a U-turn disaster.

What do you most admire?

The futuristic dash.

What’s it really good at? It’s great for big riding days, I’ve ventured further afield and had some of the longest days in the saddle during my years of riding.

What’s broken or fallen off? With my assistance, the right indicator fell off, other than that, it’s been a problem-free 8000 miles of riding.

What irritates? The footpeg is always in the way when I put down the sidestand.

Tell us a secret There’s no predicted fuel range and the gauge aggravates as it shows full for around 125 miles then plummets.

What did you think at the beginning? It filled me with excitement.

And now? The GT has opened my eyes. I’m so pleased I’ve moved out of my middleweight comfort zone.
