How low can the TT record go?
Dean Harrison My ideal time is 136mph. James Whitham You need good weather the whole fortnight, no delays, at least two people pushing each other and shoving each other right on.
DH If you get rain deep into the TT it washes away the rubber that’s been laid down and you have to start again. Whether we’re doing 133mph one year or 131mph the next, everyone’s riding just as hard, it’s just that the track isn’t in as good condition.
Jake Dixon You just ride to the grip you have beneath you. Even if you had a 300bhp MotoGP Ducati you’d still be limited as to how much power you could actually use. DH I could use 300bhp coming out of the Gooseneck onto the Mountain. JD Just lose some weight, you fat f**k! DH Well, a weasel like Jake wouldn’t be able to hold on between Ginger Hall and Ramsey. You need some weight to plant the bike.
JD I’m not going round there.
JW If you had Marquez’s bike and crew you’d expect to go quicker. But it might take a year or two to get the set-up right...
DH Hicky’s BMW S1000RR makes 20bhp more than my Kawasaki ZX-10R on the dyno and he’s much faster over the Mountain; where it’s all straights and only about eight corners. I don’t think that’s going to change massively next year; we’ve only found
2.8bhp more.
