Lighter riders need guts

-

Interesting view of Ana Carrasco’s world championship win from Bruce Hosie (MCN Letters, December 19). A lighter rider does not equate to a faster lap, because it is as much a handicap as an advantage. Obviously, like most armchair critics, Mr Hosie has little or no racing knowledge. A lighter rider has to work harder as their weight affects bike dynamics less, and they have to lean more for the same reason. It takes guts and skill to go faster. Carl Webber, email
