The battle for the 2018 MCN Racer of the Year is in full swing. After an incredible year of racing, MCN’s panel of experts saw fit to extend the public vote to seven nominees, featuring riders across seven different racing disciplines. The competition changes its name from Man of the Year in recognition of Ana Carrasco becoming the first female world champion in a solo class. World Superbike king Jonathan Rea was crowned last year’s winner and the Ulsterman once again features on the list of nominees but he faces tough competition from now five-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez, British champion Leon Haslam and Isle of Man TT lap record holder Peter Hickman. After storming to their second world championship, the Birchall brothers represent the threewheeled world while 2013 MCN Man of the Year Tai Woffinden returns to the shortlist.
