ABBA’S STORY

-

CONCEPTION

In 1992 Alan Burdett designed a stand to allow him to lift a bike using its swingarm pivot point and formed Alan Burdett Bike Accessories: abba. The first stand cost £125, today they start at under £100.

THE MOVE

Abba moved from their 1000sqft factory in Malden to two 2000sqft adjacent units in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex, in 2011. The move allowed the firm to increase the production and step up a gear.

GETTING IN FRONT

A new innovation, the frontlift arm allowed owners of the abba stand to retro-fit the unit and suspend the front of the bike in the air to allow removal of its forks.

ABBA ON THE UP

Alan’s son Steve designed the Sky Lift in 2014. Effectively an abba stand connected to a hydraulic lift, the Sky Lift now equates for almost 30% of abba’s sales, making it almost as popular as the standard lift.
