Yamaha’s latest incarnation of the 450 gets a more advanced liquid-cooled, four-stroke four-valve reverse-cylinder 449cc engine with an ECU and injection system taken from the firm’s motocrossers. But Yamaha say the power delivery arrives in a nice broad spread of drive, rather than the pure aggression of an MX bike. And if you don’t like the fuel map, you can change it via the optional smartphone based Power Tuner app. The clutch and gearbox have been strengthened, the fuel capacity boosted to 7.9 litres and there’s top-spec KYB suspension and an all-new aluminium bilateral beam frame that’s both slimmer and lighter.
