Renegade move
Just weeks after Indian trademarked the ‘Raven’ name for motorcycles, it has emerged that the American brand have also trademarked the name ‘Renegade’ for the same purpose. To us ‘Renegade’ sounds like the perfect name for an entry-level model with a younger focus and more aggressive styling. Indian’s current entrylevel bike is the Scout Sixty, which at £10,349 is nearly £1500 more than Harley-Davidson’s first proper big bike, the Iron 883. The Scout’s styling is also much more traditional compared to the brash Iron, potentially making it less appealing to the younger generation. We could imagine the Renegade taking the cooler styling of the Scout Bobber but with a lower capacity and less powerful engine, as well as a lighter weight chassis and build. If they could sneak it in just under H-D at £8500, then it could really pull the rug from under the folks in Milwaukee.
